Social Media for Social Change Campaign Final. Thank you, GNML!

Our GNML and work on Social Media for Social Change Campaign is moving to it’s end. Since that time, I met a lot of interesting, wonderful ideas of enthusiastic people: teachers and students of GNML. I learned a lot new things: acquired new knowledge and enhanced my capacity in different online platforms, as well as met with new media products. I was able to introduce people to my environmental project «Ecology: First Steps», and also met with my associates. And all this because of the opportunities media platforms, which I want to express my opinion:

Blogger.
Blogging is a very important and interesting experience. It takes a long time, but the result is very interesting. It's something like a diary in which you share your thoughts, as well as interesting information that excited you. My blog attracted some visitors, which is very nice and gives me a reason to continue working on the publication of posts.

Twitter.
In Russia, there is a saying: brevity is the sister of talent. It is a talent to express your thoughts compact for twitter. At first it was hard to find room for all my ideas in a short sentence. But then I realized that short-tweet posts, which are perceived as slogans - a very powerful tool to "reach out" to the reader.

YouTube.
The project, which is presented in the form of video, 100% found its audience and followers. Interesting, carefully made video is able to attract the attention of even those who are not interested in the problem, described in a video. And this is very important because it allows you to draw a specific audience, such as children who love cartoons, or youth, fond of video clips.

Facebook.
Very powerful social network that gives an opportunity to communicate with people around the world. You can join groups on interests or location, talk about each other, your lives, share your photos. Your personal page on Facebook can tell you so many interesting things, like a number of adherents, followers, people interested in you. It's the perfect way to meet new people.

Instagram.
Now many people are passionate about putting some of their photos in Instagram. And since it can be done immediately after photographing, it is possible to introduce your friends with all aspects of your life: what you just ate, what you liked, what clothes you prefer. In my opinion, the photos in Instagram can be very good to know a person’s inner world, interests, and even intelligence.

LinkedIn.
This platform is not very well developed in Russia. For me it was the friendliness of the lessons MediaLab. And I was very impressed with familiarity. This is a very powerful assistant in establishing business contacts, finding colleagues in the profession, as well as the representation of your portfolio to potential employers or recruiters. I really value the last point, because I plan to continue to use LinkedIn to provide my profile to college. On arrival home I will introduce my friends with it and explain its enormous possibilities.

What was the single most rewarding experience of our 10 session GNM Online program for me?
I believe that all 10 sessions were very useful for me. Some online resources such as Google Alert, were familiar to me, but for some reason I did not use them, and only GNML assessed their capabilities. Other platforms have been a novelty for me, such as LinkedIn. Probably, it became very useful for me. Why? Right now, I really need LinkedIn, because I plan on using it to change my future: to motivate recruiters universities, find like-minded people and potential sponsors on volunteer projects and other business contacts.
What was the single most challenging experience of our 10 session GNML Online program for me?
In GNML I first encountered the problem is connected to a single project a variety of platforms: Blogging, Fasebook, Twitter, Instagramm, YouTube, LinkedIn. Usually I use all these resources separately, apart from each other. For people, who are interested to study my work, it was necessary to try to make each platform interesting and unique, and at the same time to have a single idea. That was the most difficult part of my project. But I realized how much can move forward and become a successful project if they combine all available resources of the Internet to me.
How do me plan to use your new social media skills in the future? Thanks to the skills obtained in GNML I can promote my projects much more successful. It's very useful to realize the power of Social Media and understand what you have learned to manage this power for the benefit of the people. Me open these opportunities! Now my work on my project will be more professional and effective. Moreover, I'm starting to think about other projects, the ideas to which I suggested to my GNML - classmates. I would like to continue to communicate with them to apply our ideas to solve various problems in our community.
In the end I would like to thank our wonderful teachers GNML for their patience and kindness. I will not forget your lessons and promise to use this knowledge to create a peaceful and useful projects.

Also, I am very grateful to all GNML students. We all are a great company. I think we will maintain our relationship even after graduation, because now have so many possible ways to do it!

I'm not saying "good bye", it's just the beginning ...

15 Easy Ways To Reduce Landfill Waste.

Look at this interesting and useful article I found using Google Alerts!
There are lots of items that we use every day and then get rid of them by throwing them in the garbage. Unfortunately, this results in pile of garbage as we throw old items, as well as packaging of new items. Reducing solid waste is reducing the amount of trash that goes to landfills. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are most common methods to reduce landfill waste. Landfill waste poses a huge problem as it has economic and environmental impact and secondly, due to slow decomposition rate which takes thousands of years, several acres of land has already been virtually rendered useless that could have been actually used for setting up new residential colonies or industries.
While most of us may consider ourselves to be adept at conserving and recycling, the truth is that the average American makes far more trips to the landfills every year than you might think. While all of us probably believe that recycling and reusing things is a good thing, it’s a question of whether or not we actually carry it out.

Here are some useful steps you can take to ensure that you make fewer trips to the landfill each year:
